AT THIS TIME, NO DONATIONS OF PERSONAL CARE ITEMS ARE BEING ACCEPTED
DUE TO THE COVID-19 HEALTH CRISIS
MAKING IT PERSONAL
Community Service of Newburyport, Inc. holds personal care collections in schools and in the community.
In December 2019, Newburyport's Nock Middle School Student Council leaders in grades 7 and 8 coordinated a personal care drive to benefit Community Service of Newburyport, Inc.'s
Making it Personal initiative. To promote the collection and encourage donations,
they made a video with participating teachers dressed up as items like toothbrushes and mouth wash, dancing and singing a song about the importance of personal care. In January, 2020, the students delivered 1,145 personal care items to Community Service. What a wonderful example of Newburyport's youth!
Community Service is very grateful for their donations and
we look forward to partnering with Nock Middle School in the future.
A Making It Personal drive was hosted by Zach Field Drums and Music studio in Newburyport
in January of 2020. Zach, Sacha, Austin and Matt made a special effort to learn about the need
for personal care items and made a video they posted on their Facebook page
to promote the drive and drum (!!) up enthusiasm for the collection.
The response of students, families and friends was fantastic, with over 500 items donated!
Donations of personal care items allows Community Service to increase the amount of essential products provided to residents from Newburyport, Newbury and West Newbury. The most needed items are: toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, band-aids, incontinence products (men and women), laundry detergent, dish detergent, and cleaning supplies.
Making It Personal donations can be dropped off at Community Service of Newburyport, 35 Summer Street, the Annex at St. Paul’s Church, Newburyport, Monday through Wednesday, 9am to 3pm.
